8 habits I taught myself to become a young succesful woman in my twenties.

Succes is different for everyone and is very personal too. A high paying job, self confidence, owing your own house or car, married and kids.. you name it. Being succesful depends on your own personal goals, dreams, needs and believes. Everybody can be succesful at any kind of different level, but there are a few things all succesful people do differently. They create habits that sets them apart from the ordinary.

Before I start I want to share a little bit of my story to succes. When I started my own business about 3 years ago at the age of 24, I really had no clue what I had started. My knowledge in creating and leading a own business was very limited and I had no idea how many responsibilities this entailed. Let’s say I faced some challenges along the way but at the same time they were the best life lessons. Starting my own business in networkmarketing made me realize how poor my mindset was to begin with. For example, I rather complained when things didn’t work out i.o. looking for a solution, I always thought what’s in it for me i.o. thinking about the needs from others, I complained when the alarm went off early in the morning when in reality it’s a privelege to own your mornings, when I failed curtain things I always said BUT and pointed fingers instead of taking responsibility that I’m the only one to blame and like this I can give you a 1000 other examples of my poor mindset, BEFORE.

So the past three years taught me all the things they don’t teach you at school and it made me a completely different person. I transformed my mindset from poor to rich and the sad thing is that this made me see that there are so many other people who are just like me before but don’t even realize it. Sad but true but at the same time it gives hope and future potential that everybody who is willing to change can shift their mindset from poor to rich.
The below 8 points that I’m sharing with you are habits that I taught myself and it helped me to develop myself into the person I always wanted to be. Happy, grateful, passionated about life and always helpful.

1 Be a good person
It sounds so obvious to be, yet a lot of people are only good to those who do good for them. Poor mindset. Those who don’t give back, need your energy and kindness the most. It’s very selfish to only be good to your friends, family, colleagues.. Skip the bitch face, I challenge you to smile to every stranger who looks you in the eye. Succesful young women understand the power of being kind. Imagine yourself starting your own business but you were only good and kind to people you know. Do you really think your business will be truly succesful if you were never a good person before? Be the kind of person when another person gets to meet you for the first time, you will be remembered as the one with the inner light. Be the kind of person who teaches people that kindness is such a powerful thing just by being in the room. I used to be one of those who was good to all the people around me but couldn’t care less about all others. I walked into a room with my head down and avoided any kind of eye contact with people I didn’t know. Take a second to think about what you do when for example you’re out for some grocery shopping. Are you the one who looks and smiles? Or are you the one who doesn’t care who’s around? When you’re running your own business it’s very important to be the kind of person others want to be around. Be good for no reason and don’t ask anything in return.

2 Always think positive thoughts
This is a crazy mindset shift! This one helped me a lot! I seriously call it one of my life savers. I used to focus on all things I didn’t want to happen. I don’t want to work late, I don’t want my favorite item to be gone, I don’t want to gain weight… I don’t I don’t I don’t. So because all of my focus went to all things I didn’t want to happen, they all started to happen because I gave them all of my energy. Personal development taught me to only think positive thoughts and that there is no such thing as a problem but that everything comes as a challenge. If things don’t work out as you would want them to, no problem. Everything is no problem and give all of your energy to all the things that you would WANT to happen and skip the DON’T want to happen thoughts because they will come true eventually.

3 Make time for yourself
Prioritize self-care and self-love above all else. It’s essential to invest in yourself and to make it a habit to learn new things on a daily base. Wether it be by reading a book, listening to a pod-cast, watching motivational video’s, reading blogs, following people who inspire you… this is the real key to succes! Knowledge gives you potential to get yourself to the next level. If you are now in your early twenties and you have no idea what to do with your life, start your personal development today and you will become the person you always wanted to be, even if  you don’t know who that person is today. If there is one thing I can promise you, it’s that you will find your way out if you start to prioritize yourself! Who I am today I never thought I would ever be. Nothing happens by chance, everything happens by choice.

4 Learn to say no
To be succesful it’s essential to listen to your own voice, body and needs. Saying no to all things that distract you or that are not beneficial to your growth is not selfish, it’s necesarry! I used to put my personal needs aside out of fear that others might be mad or dissapointed. So wrong! If you want to be succesful in any area, you can not be a people pleaser. To be a value for other people it’s very important to set a good example at all times, so it starts with you. If you and your circle of influence still haven’t figured out what it is that you would like to do, you can’t do the same things you were doing yesterday. It’s not selfish to say no, it’s self-care.

5 Read books
The average millionaire reads 4 books a month. I’m not saying that I’m reading 4 books a month, but it gives you something to think about. Before I started my own business I was already into reading books, except they were not the kind of books to get succesful from. Romance, thrillers, drama… not much personal development over here. My first book in personal development was “rich dad poor dad” and since that book everything changed. I was so inspired and mad at the same time because I really felt stupid after reading. What the hell have I been doing for all these years?! Books like these are real eye openers and there’s a whole new world that opens right in front of you. I make it a habit to at least read once a week. Without these kind of books, I wouldn’t be so determined as I am today.

6 Be a bad-ass
Dare to be different. Dare to be open minded and learn to say YES to new adventures. If there is one thing I can say about myself, it’s the fact that I’m a real bad-ass! I do things differently, I think differently, I speak my mind, I share my thoughts whatever they may be, I’m always open for new things, I couldn’t care less what people say or might think of me and I encourage everyone to do the same. If I would have listen to all the people around me, friends, family, even haters, I would never have what I have today, NEVER. If your believes, passion, dreams, drive, separates you from the crowd, keep going because that’s your way to succes and have a BIG life.

7 Don’t take anything personally
Starting your own business comes with challenges and one of them is bad reactions. Well, their reaction tells more about them than about you. What will people think of me? The number one reason why most people never reach their full potential, such a shame… This all comes down to habit number one; Be a good person. If you program yourself to be a good person, you will have the natural instinct to be happy for another persons happiness, choices and work. One thing I’ve learned it’s that people who you’ve known the longest, will mostly wish you less succes than people you got to know recently. What to do? Accept and move forward.

8 Surround yourself with like minded people
When I got started one of the first things I learned was that if you hang around 5 negative people, you will become the sixth. If you hang around 10 people without any dreams or goals, you will become the eleventh. Again, a real eye opener for me and it’s so true. When I go 4 years back in time I see that almost all the people who were around me back then, are still doing the same things, have the same things and the saddest part, still have a really poor mindset and don’t even realize it. Can’t imagine my life like that in any kind of way. Be careful about your circle of influence. Some people are not open to grow and will automatically without you even realizing put a limit on you as well. Break out, be around the inspired ones!

I still apply every above step and I challenge myself to do it 1% better every single day. I hope this will be helpful for you too and whatever it is that you are doing, be the best at it! You deserve to live an extraordinary life. Why not you? Go for it and let no one tell you otherwise. If you have any comments, questions, or you can relate, I love to hear from you.
